Hearing Your Heart Voice
Vision Quest
"If we look at the path, we do not see the sky. We are earth people on a spiritual journey to the stars. Our quest, our earth walk is to look within, to know who we are, to see that we are connected to all things, that there is no separation, only in the mind."
(Native American, source unknown)
There is a place within us all that has access to our inner vision. Having vision is the ability to see, hear, and know truth. Not through the filters of our life experience, but through our inner sight and wisdom. Not through the mind's understanding, but through the opening of the heart and spirit. A knowing that is grounded in our Source. A vision that comes through a softening and surrender to our essence, rather than through a forcing, pushing, or striving. Vision that is guided by our Creator.
Questing is an ancient rite of passage
The need for spiritual quest is deeply embedded in all ancient cultures. Biblical prophets walked into the heart of the desert to fast and pray for divine revelation, to hear the voice of the living God. It is an ancient rite of passage. In the heart of all spiritual traditions is the clearing the way of obstacles to true vision: that we are everything and nothing, that we are a great mystery within a greater mystery.
That we are eternally joined.
Be Still and Know that I Am God
Vision is the profound seeing of this truth. Our world today does not foster this openness and receptivity. In fact, many of us become so buried beneath strategies of survival and layers of stress, we aren't available to true listening or seeing.
This is what often brings us to a spiritual crisis - the pain of separation from who we are. Not an answerable question by the mind but in the silent stillness of a starry night. It is in the little moments of your quest that teaching comes - in the raven's call at sunrise, in the chaotic swirl of the wind, in the dark stillness of the night.
