Call to Prayer

A special prayer for the people in Haiti

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
And though mountains slip into the heart of the sea...
- Psalm 46:1-3

May you be granted strength and courage and grace through God. We pray for your healing, we pray for the sanctity of living, and we pray the path of all of you and your loved ones be lighted with the Divine Light. Special blessings to the workers, rescuers, and people who have come to the aid of humanity. Amen.

The soul that desires God to surrender Himself to it entirely
must surrender itself entirely to Him
without keeping anything for itself.
- St. John of the Cross, Sayings of Light and Love

The ancient traditions teach us to pray without ceasing. When we are joined in prayer, we create powerful elementals (energies, thought forms) of healing and light that transcend all things, all time and space. And we enter a place of non-separation with God and all of Creation.

When I first wrote this, I was filled with the intense sounds and images that I, like all of you, have taken in over these past years of places and people under siege and conflict around the world. Of all of the images, one of the most poignant that has stayed with me was hearing the sounds of the sacred Call to Prayer at dawn in Baghdad while our eyes took in the conflict and explosions in the skies over the city.

I am still haunted by the wailing call, heard high above the conflict - the sacredness of the moment speaking loudly in contrast to the strife and terror. Reminding me that we are all called to prayer, we are called to the sacredness of this moment and every moment. That is where our healing is - when we are in the midst of our own personal sieges and conflicts in life. In that moment we are called to the center, to our Source. It is a call for prayer, where we hold the vision and the sacred space for love and truth and light to enter. We need not do anything else.

So let us bring our voices together in a weekly Call to Prayer. A time of joining in God's Grace in community, near and far, in spiritualizing ourselves and through that, Mother Earth. The Circle of Life.

In our call to prayer, we join our spiritual brethren in the circle of prayer. It is a time to light a candle, incense, sage; kneel on your prayer rug or prayer bench, sit on your meditation cushion, and chant, sing, and wail your prayers. And know that our songs of prayer are joining the dawn prayers in holy temples around the world, especially with our brethren in the Middle East and beyond. We are creating a sacred web where we enter in communion, a place of non-separation, in union with our divine Creator in a holy moment.

In our Call to Prayer, we began a tradition wherein we join together weekly Sunday evening at 9PM(Eastern Time)/6PM (Pacific Time). Join us in your own way, your own spiritual dance. It matters not how. Just answer the Call to Prayer.

Send your e-mail to us at sacredmesa@msn.com if you wish to be added to our weekly reminder to tune into this prayerful time, and include special prayer requests and remembrances.

See you in prayer....
